Federal pardon board introduces revocable and conditional pardons under new directive
The Federal Board of Pardon issued a new directive that for the first time formally allows conditional pardons and authorizes revocation when beneficiaries violate conditions or commit new crimes after release. The framework expands restrictions on serious crimes, tightens reconciliation requirements and sets stricter procedural standards, replacing a three-year-old directive.
