Italian investment in Ethiopia has reached approximately €723 million, with over 20 Italian companies participating in Big 5 Construct Ethiopia 2026. Italian exports to Ethiopia rose last year, reflecting the country's opening economy and improving business environment.

Ethiopia achieved import substitution worth 4.85 billion USD through locally produced goods over nine months, driven by the 'Made in Ethiopia' initiative. Manufacturing sector growth accelerated from 4.8% to over 13%, with 754 new industries entering production.

The Czech Republic is expanding investment opportunities in Ethiopia, with 2024 trade showing Czech exports at $8.59M and Ethiopian exports at $7.77M. Priority sectors include water, sanitation, irrigation, waste management, transport, and healthcare infrastructure.

Ethiopia continues to face challenges negotiating debt restructuring agreements with international bondholders and commercial creditors. The stalled talks underscore persistent difficulties in resolving the country's external debt obligations.
