Africa faces mounting trade costs as non-tariff barriers rise

Non-tariff barriers including standards, customs delays and regulatory fragmentation are pushing intra-African trade costs higher even as AfCFTA tariffs come down. Analysts say the trend threatens the cost competitiveness of Ethiopian exporters across the continent.
