Surging expenditures push mid-year budget deficit over 90 billion birr

The federal government posted a 93.6 billion birr budget deficit in the first half of FY2025/26 as expenditures grew faster than revenue. Total revenues and grants climbed 55 percent year-on-year to nearly 705 billion birr while expenditures topped 798 billion birr.
