Regional climate outlook warns of below-normal rainfall across Horn of Africa
The IGAD Climate Prediction and Application Centre forecast a high likelihood of below-normal June-September rainfall across most of the Greater Horn of Africa, with probabilities exceeding 60 percent over central, northeastern and northwestern Ethiopia. Officials warned of likely impacts on rain-fed agriculture, hydropower generation and food security.
