Draft tax reform proposes doubling receipt penalties and introduces tax dispute reconciliation

The federal government is moving to amend tax administration laws to impose stricter penalties for failure to issue tax receipts, establish a formal tax dispute reconciliation mechanism and expand enforcement powers. The draft would roughly double existing receipt penalties as Addis pushes to widen the tax base.
