Banks' demand doubles in central bank forex auction
Demand for foreign currency surged in Ethiopia's latest central bank auction, with commercial banks bidding USD1 billion against USD500 million on offer as the birr weakened further. The weighted average clearing rate reached 159.98 birr per dollar, up sharply from 153.25 birr in the undersubscribed February auction.
