African nations urged to harness critical minerals for green industrialization

At a UNECA forum in Addis Ababa, former PM Hailemariam Dessalegn urged African states to move from raw mineral exports into processing and battery manufacturing, citing 30 percent of the world's critical minerals on the continent. UNECA Executive Secretary Claver Gatete said local processing and regional value chains could unlock billions in investment.
